Belita met Steve Mills through an online forum on recording technology. He helped her with a question about some recording and they continued to correspond until finally meeeting where they agreed it might be mutally beneficial to hook up and see if things worked out musically. Belita asked Steve to help her bring to fruittion her debut album consisting of a range of material that is as wide ranging as it is eclectic. Influences from all over the world and from many different parts of music; that Bel had been trying to distill into a coherent project. Now some might say, coherence and Steve aren't the most obvious of bed fellows, but with a background in Metal and Psychedelic music, Steve seems to have the sort of *out of the box* methods that Bel needed from a producer/ co arranger. For Steve's part it was an opportunity to really stretch himself with material that often dosen't fit the typical verse chorus verse chorus middle 8 chorus format that the* biz*, almost draconian like, seems to insist on from artists of all genres today. That is not to say Bel doesnt write *songs*, she most certainly does, but they are often slightly askew to the normal way of things. Hopefully the final result is a collection of songs that, stand both in their own right, and as an album. They are as much moods and textures as they are songs. Thats not to say the album is some sort of *po faced* attempt at *High art*. In the final analysis it is a collection of songs nothing more, nothing less.
